About Proprietors William & Leticia Jarvis
William Jarvis was born in Oklahoma, a dry state! It wasn’t until the Navy took him to California that he enjoyed wine for the first time, and he probably appreciated it more at that time than those who grew up with wine.
After attending Annapolis and serving in the Navy, William continued his studies in both technical and liberal arts for eight more years at the University of California Berkeley, Stanford, and various French universities. Turning to business, he headed his own telecommunications company in Silicon Valley.
Leticia Jarvis was born in Puebla, Mexico where she finished her college degree and met William.
After their marriage, William and Leticia traveled and studied abroad, finally adopting France as a part-time residence. For many years, they maintained a Louis XIV Chateau in the Vesle Valley near Reims in Northern France. The two spent time at French universities concentrating in their shared interest, French literature. William and Leticia also enjoyed the many wines found in the different regions they visited, eventually gravitating to the fine Bordeaux reds and Montrachet whites.

He enjoys sailing to wine and food destinations to further his ongoing education and explore the journey of simplifying his life and his career.
About Jarvis Estate
The Jarvis Estate winemaking facility is entirely contained within 45,000 square feet of cave tunneled into the scenic Vaca Mountains, four miles east of downtown Napa. It is not only a visual masterpiece, but a technical masterpiece as well.
Due to the invariant temperature and high humidity level of caves, wineries have typically used caves for the barrel aging of wines. Jarvis Estate was the first in this country to tunnel a cave so large that it could hold the entire winemaking operation. With the help of chief geotechnic consultant Gregg Korbin and the largest computer at University of California Berkeley, William Jarvis was able to successfully plan and design the large chambers of our underground winery. As the cave extends further into the mountain, the chambers become larger. Pushing the state of the art, the last chamber could comfortably contain two full basketball courts. These chambers allow even the large fermentation tanks to be underground and out of sight, thus preserving the unmarred beauty of the natural outside environment.
All Jarvis wines are produced from estate vineyards, located high above the city of Napa, in the beautifully rugged mountains between Mt. George and Milliken Canyon at the southeastern end of the Napa Valley. The vineyards are planted in gently sloping meadows one thousand feet above the valley floor. As the cool maritime air passes over the Carneros flats and begins flowing into the valley, it falls about seven degrees in temperature for the thousand feet of vertical rise. As such, our vineyards tend to be cooler by several degrees than the famous Carneros region! These cooler temperatures allow a long “hang time,” which permits a long, slow fruit maturation for maximum flavor and concentration at harvest.
